Get ready for a busy season of New York City events
Fall in New York City is a beautiful time of year to experience all the exciting events happening around the city. There is an endless list of things to do in New York City, but special fashion, sporting and popular cultural events will take NYC by storm from September through November.
The special events get underway with the U.S. Open tennis tournament from August 31 to September 13 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. New York Fashion Week is held from September 10 to September 17 and features fashion shows by the top designers. The 53rd edition of the New York Film Festival will run from September 25 to October 11 and will spotlight new releases with a limited opportunity to view them.
Comic Con NYC takes over the Javits Center from October 8 through October 11. This popular convention showcases the latest in comics, video games, movies and TV with screenings, panels and a wide array of special guests. On October 31, the Village Halloween Parade takes place. The parade winds its way from 6th Avenue north of Spring Street to 16th Street. A menagerie of giant puppets and special costumed performances can be seen in Greenwich Village, and over 50 bands will perform. The NYC Marathon is a weeklong celebration, culminating with the race on November 1. The 26.2-mile race is run through five boroughs and draws about 50,000 runners.
